Tuotos was founded in 1998 to improve the administration of film producers' copyrights.

We represent over 200 independent Finnish film and audiovisual producers. Through the reciprocal representation contract made with AGICOA Tuotos represents foreign rightholders of audiovisual works in Finland - and correspondingly AGICOA represents Finnish rightholders worldwide. AGICOA operates especially in the area of cable TV and similar retransmission means.

Tuotos negotiates agreements as well as collects and distributes copyright payments to producers. Royalties are distributed from  

• retransmission
• recording of TV programmes for educational purposes
• private copy levy

Annual payments are made on individual basis to the producers whose works have been broadcast on television.

Licences for educational use of Finnish films and documentaries are also granted by Tuotos.

Tuotos follows the development of copyright law both nationally and internationally and safeguards producers’ interests in legislative work. Information and courses are provided in copyright and related matters.
